Cultivating A Fresh Perspective for the Future

Many of us are so passionate about the field of horticulture that it’s easy to forget that plants and gardens connect us to so many other worlds that can enrich our creativity: art, well-being, and home design. Over time, it’s also natural to fall into habits of seeing problems and patterns a certain way, making us blind to opportunities just outside of our everyday view.

Holding a “beginner’s mindset” can help us solve problems in our work more effectively, adapt to change more easily, lead our teams with more inspiration, and actually create more original ideas. We can navigate future challenges more smoothly if we can cultivate techniques to help us anticipate intersections happening all around us.

So how do we change our perspective and see things with fresh eyes? How can we use these connections in our everyday work in horticulture?
